Introduce Yourself to Our Audience:

My name is Galen Donovan, I’m 19 years old and this is my 4th production with CTC.

What character do you play?

I’m playing Rusty Charlie.

What makes you most excited about returning to the stage after the pandemic?

Just getting to a point where we as actors and artists are able to get back on stage and start using our talents again is a really great feeling.  Getting to start sharing live theater performances with audiences again after what has felt like such a long time is really exciting!

Who is your favorite character in Guys and Dolls?  And why?

Probably Nathan Detroit because he’s so funny and my favorite characters are always the comedic ones.  I like that he’s supposed to be kind of the bad guy but you really know through the show that part of him wants to be good.  I think that our Nathan is bringing a wonderful take on him to the stage.

What are you most excited for our audience to experience while watching our first production in over a year?

Just the whole experience of getting to come to a live musical again.  For me it is always such a fun night out when I get to go take in a show.  I think our audience will really enjoy this one!

Who inspired your love of theater?  And why?

Wow, tough question (haha).  Lots of different places.  Mostly just watching old tv shows and movies that involved singing and dancing more than a lot of more modern shows do.  I’ve always loved the experience of a live performance so much more than something on a screen.

With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, Guys and Dolls opens June 11th and runs through June 27th at Connecticut Theatre Company. Tickets on sale now!
