Spotlight On: Brooke Owens

Connecticut Theatre Company’s “Spotlight On…” series continues with a look into the cast of Escape to Margaritaville. Get to know Brooke Owens who is portraying Tammy in our production!

Introduce yourself to our audience.

Hi! My name is Brooke Owens and I’m playing Tammy. I’m a 29 year old Gemini with ADHD and am just here for a good time. I have been in the Connecticut theater scene for a while. My most recent production was in “Sister Act” at Seven Angels Theater as the SHOW STOPPING, STUNNING, WONDERFUL Nun #2.

Why did you want to be involved in this production?

I love Duane and CTC so I thought it would be fun! Plus I can play the Ukulele which I thought could be useful!

Who in the show is most like their character?

ENZO AS JAMAL! Every time Enzo opens their mouth and delivers a Jamal line it just makes sense. Plus I feel like it’s such an Enzo move to have a disaster happen and to have them stand there and just say “I don’t know where I’m a gunna go,”.

Besides yourself, what celebrity would you like to see tackle your character?

Melissa McCarthy only because I get told I remind people of her a lot. Also she’s amazing in everything she does. She could really play up the humor of Tammy and it would be fun to see her vulnerable side as well.

What do you do when you’re not doing theatre?

When I’m not at my day job, I moonlight as a party princess! I often kick it with my girl Princess Anna and sometimes Belle. I also have a dog, Leia, who is my pride and joy. So I’m normally cuddling with her.

Without giving anything away, what’s your favorite line of dialogue?

“Even my hallucinations are running away!”

What’s your favorite Jimmy Buffett song, and why?

‘A Pirate Looks at Forty’. Jimmy’s music isn’t necessarily for me, but this song in particular gives me chills! I actually cannot understand it. I’m so excited we get to sing it in the show!

What sort of person is going to love this show?

Jimmy Buffet Fans, theater fans, comedy fans, basically anyone who enjoys fun! This show doesn’t take itself seriously which I think is something we really need right now 🙂
