Spotlight On: Dan Deutsch

Connecticut Theatre Company’s “Spotlight On…” series continues with a look into our talented cast of Moon Over Buffalo. Get to know the talented Dan Deutsch…

Please introduce yourself and tell me why you wanted to be in the cast of Moon Over Buffalo?

My name is Dan Deutsch and I wanted to be in the cast of Moon Over Buffalo because I enjoy the challenge of fast-paced comedies. The magic of “the theatre,” as George Hay exclaims, is revealed in the precise choreography of this laugh-a-minute roller coaster!

Who do you play in the show and how do you relate to your character?

I play Howard, an incredibly nervous and endearingly oblivious weatherman. Having only played much older characters throughout high school and college, I have been fascinated at how much I relate to Howard – a young wannabe actor, filled with awe of the environment he’s found himself in. I consider myself much more self-aware (and a little less jumpy), but I’ve been known to obsessively check the weather from time to time.

What have been some of the funniest moments of playing your character?

There is a whole bunch of humor to be found in earnestness, and Howard exhibits this quality throughout the show, at times to his own expense.

Why should audiences come and see Moon Over Buffalo?

Moon Over Buffalo has been called “a love letter to the theatre” and I couldn’t agree more. There’s running, yelling, doors slamming, and laughs from beginning to end. Did we say you can bring wine?

Ken Ludwig’s Moon Over Buffalo opens March 22nd and runs through March 31st at Connecticut Theatre Company. Tickets are on sale now!
