New Britain Repertory Theatre Acquired by Connecticut Theatre Company
A new theatre troupe named Connecticut Theatre Company has acquired the Repertory Theatre in New Britain, CT. The group will operate the historic community theatre and has announced a full six show 2014 season consisting of The Foreigner, Fiddler on the Roof, Rent, Chicago, Wizard of OZ and The Christmas Schooner.
Connecticut Theatre Company plans to maintain the name of the building itself, as the Repertory Theatre was one of Connecticut’s first theatre establishments and has a rich history. The group looks forward to serving a wider area of communities including New Britain, Bristol, Plainville, Farmington, Newington, Berlin, West Hartford and Southington.
“It is a community theatre ‘family’ and we are attracting people from all over the area,” said Sean Taylor, President of Connecticut Theatre Company. “Nothing brings people together quite like theatre and we are very excited to be in the position to turn the Repertory Theatre into something really special for participants and patrons of the arts in central Connecticut.”
Connecticut Theatre Company is a non-profit theatrical and performing arts group serving central Connecticut. The company’s goal is to stimulate, promote, teach and develop interest in the dramatic arts through arts education and by producing theatrical productions on a year-round basis.
