Spotlight On: Claire Fracasse
Connecticut Theatre Company’s “Spotlight On…” series continues with a look into the cast of The Wedding Singer. Get to know Claire Fracasse who is in the ensemble of our production!
Introduce yourself to our audience.
Hi! My name is Claire Fracasse and this is my second production with CTC. Even though this is also only my second musical I’ve ever been in as an adult, I am no stranger to the stage! I have been performing in drag under the name Frizzie Borden since 2018 all around New England!
What aspects of your character do you find most relatable or challenging to portray?
Because I am in the ensemble, I think the most challenging thing is switching between so many different characters! Going from a 13 year old boy, to a stripper, to a rockstar is going to be hard but lots and lots of fun. I really connect with this decade in music and fashion history so I think that aspect will be very easy for me!
How do you prepare for a performance, both physically and mentally?
What Is your favorite moment or song in “The Wedding Singer” and why?
“Saturday Night in The City” is my favorite song! I love moments in musicals where the entire cast is on stage at the same time. That song is also just so much fun and so catchy!
When did you first start performing?
My first ever musical was in the 4th grade. I’ve always loved Broadway and grew up going to musicals but didn’t really start getting into theater myself until college. Even then I was doing mostly stage crew and some assistant stage managing. I wasn’t in my first official musical until I was in “Nine” last year here at CTC!
What’s the last thing you do before you step out on stage / the curtain goes up?
I don’t really get stage fright anymore but there is always a moment right before going on for the first time that’s always a little nerve wracking. I take a lot of deep breaths and remember that everyone, the cast and the audience, is here to have fun and have a good time. After that, I’m usually ready to go!
What’s your favorite 80’s song/band/performer and why?
What do you hope audiences take away from this production of “The Wedding Singer”?
I really just hope people have a great time! This show is the most fun one I’ve ever worked on. I love all the songs, it’s really funny, and really sweet. It’s just such a feel good musical and I hope the audience agrees!
“The Wedding Singer” opens on July 11th and runs through July 20th at Connecticut Theatre Company. Tickets on sale now!
