Spotlight On: Paige Machnicz

Connecticut Theatre Company’s “Spotlight On…” series continues with a look into the cast of The Wedding Singer. Get to know Paige Machnicz who is portraying Linda in our production!

Introduce yourself to our audience.

Hi I’m Paige and I’m playing Linda!

What aspects of your character do you find most relatable or challenging to portray?

Honestly I tend to play a lot more “girl next door” characters, so portraying someone more punk rock is definitely a challenge, but super fun!

How do you prepare for a performance, both physically and mentally?

Mentally I try to focus on the character development, and physically… I just hope for the best.

What Is your favorite moment or song in “The Wedding Singer” and why?

It’s really hard to pick JUST one, but I love “Grow Old With You”. You’ll have to see the show to get the full picture *wink wink nudge nudge* but the song just always makes me smile.

When did you first start performing?

My first “show” was a play in Kindergarten, but playing Fern in “Charlotte’s Web” in fourth grade really just unlocked my love for performing.

What’s the last thing you do before you step out on stage / the curtain goes up?

I take a deep breath and tell myself “I got this”.

What’s your favorite 80’s song/band/performer and why?

I love 80’s music so much so this is SO hard, but I’m cheating and saying Queen and Motley Crüe. They’re polar opposites but Queen always spoke to me, and Motley Crüe is just so fun.

What do you hope audiences take away from this production of “The Wedding Singer”?

I hope audiences love the story, have fun, and enjoy the music. It’s all just so good, and made even better by this cast.
