Spotlight On: Paige Machnicz

Connecticut Theatre Company’s “Spotlight On…” series continues with a look into the cast of Escape to Margaritaville. Get to know Paige Machnicz who is portraying Rachel in our production!

Introduce yourself to our audience.

Hi I’m Paige and I’m playing Rachel! I’m so excited to be in my second production with CTC.

Why did you want to be involved in this production?

Honestly I didn’t know much about this show going into it, I really just wanted to work with CTC again. It was such a welcoming environment and I just knew I wanted to come back!

Who in the show is most like their character?

Joe as Tully for sure. A little witty and sarcastic, but has a total soft spot (don’t tell him I said that)

Besides yourself, what celebrity would you like to see tackle your character?

I feel like Elizabeth Teeter would be so cute. She just feels like she could give a lot of depth to Rachel like she does with a lot of her roles. When I saw her in “Beetlejuice” she gave another layer to Lydia, a character I already connected with, and you can tell she cares a lot about the roles she takes on.

What do you do when you’re not doing theatre?

I work for a tech company and spend a lot of time crocheting!

Without giving anything away, what’s your favorite line of dialogue?

Tully has a line referring to a volcano that is just so funny and absolutely something Joe would say in real life.

What’s your favorite Jimmy Buffett song, and why?

“It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere”. Self explanatory.

What sort of person is going to love this show?

I think if you’re looking for a fun, feel good show, this is the show for you. There’s a lot of funny moments, but there’s also a lot of heart in this show and it really can put a smile on your face.
