Spotlight On: Galen Donovan

Connecticut Theatre Company’s “Spotlight On…” series continues with a look into our talented cast of Meet Me in St Louis. Get to know the chivalrous Galen Donovan who will be appearing in as Lon Smith.

What is your favorite holiday memory?

My favorite holiday memory is more just a setting, not a specific time or place; sitting around by a fire or wood stove, near the Christmas tree, drinking peppermint hot chocolate.

Who is your favorite character in the show?

I honestly get a kick out of Grandpa. He’s so sweet and relaxed and provides a certain light-heartedness to some of the scenes he is in.

Where is your hometown?

I was born in Greenfield MA but I’ve lived  close to the shoreline in Southeastern CT my whole life, currently I’m in Salem.

How many brothers/sisters do you have?

I am an only child so playing a character with such a large immediate family has been really cool!

What is your favorite song in the show?

I know it’s my big song in the show but I have to say it, “The Banjo” is my favorite. The energy and attitude and spirit of this song are all just so much fun!! Plus, dancing is literally how I improve my own mood half the time so I can definitely relate to the character and song a lot.

With music and lyrics by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane and book by Hugh Wheeler, Meet Me in St Louis opens December 6th and runs through December 22nd at Connecticut Theatre Company. Tickets on sale now!
