Spotlight On: Karli Spinella

Connecticut Theatre Company’s “Spotlight On…” series continues with a look into our talented cast of Meet Me in St Louis. Get to know the patient Karli Spinella who will be appearing as Mrs. Smith.

What is your favorite holiday memory?

This is one of my favorites because, though it happened quite a few years ago, it still makes me lol. I come from a family of rescue dog nuts.  My mother, sisters, my niece and my daughter were together for Christmas so we went to visit the dogs at the local Humane Society. Some of the dogs had the words “time up” and a date on their info cards. We all thought that was the day the dog was going to be euthanized and one by one we were all bawling our eyes out.  Someone finally figured out it was actually the date the dog could be adopted out if the owner didn’t claim it.  It was a scene.

Who is your favorite character in the show?

Tootie because of her active imagination and preoccupation with death.

Where is your hometown?

I grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota but have lived in Chester, CT for 23 years.

How many brothers/sisters do you have?

I have one brother and two sisters.

What is your favorite song in the show?

“Whenever I’m With You”.
