Spotlight On: Christine McGuinness

Connecticut Theatre Company’s “Spotlight On…” series continues with a look into the cast of Escape to Margaritaville. Get to know Christine McGuinness who is in the Ensemble of our production!

Introduce yourself to our audience.

Hi! I’m Christine. This is my third production with CTC! I play various roles within the Ensemble.

Why did you want to be involved in this production?

CTC has become a second family to me, so I was excited to work with them again. Plus, it sounded like a fun show with lots of singing and dancing.

Who in the show is most like their character?

I’d say Joe. He’s laid back and amiable like Tully and just wants everyone around him to have a good time.

Besides yourself, what celebrity would you like to see tackle your character?

I have no doubt Pedro Pascal would nail it. Especially the tap number.

What do you do when you’re not doing theatre?

I’m a Registered Nurse with an outpatient GI practice. I take dance classes when I can. My husband and I love live music and enjoy going to concerts together. I’m also a pet mom to three dogs and three cats, so they keep me busy!

Without giving anything away, what’s your favorite line of dialogue?

“I could maybe be a walk-away-briskly bride.”

What’s your favorite Jimmy Buffett song, and why?

“Coast of Marseilles.” I didn’t know it before doing the show, and it’s just so beautiful. Paige and Joe sound great singing it together.

What sort of person is going to love this show?

Obviously, Jimmy Buffett fans. But I think the show appeals to anyone looking for an escape (no pun intended) from the scary realities of the world, even if only for a couple of hours.
