Connecticut Theatre Company’s “Spotlight On…” series continues with a look into our talented cast and crew of Guys and Dolls. Get to know Sam Battle!
Please introduce yourself and state your role in the show.
Hello, my name is Sam Battle and I play Joey Biltmore, and Calvin from the Mission. As well as a Waiter and fellow Craps player.
Who is your favorite guy from the Guys and Dolls movie, Nathan Detroit or Sky Masterson? Why?
If I had to choose which Guy to be from the show, I’d have to choose Sky Masterson. He is cunning, smart, and not afraid to take on a bet. Sky also goes through a large amount of change throughout the show, becoming what some call a better man.
Who is your favorite girl from the Guys and Dolls, Sarah Brown or Miss Adelaide? Why?
My favorite Doll has got to be Adelaide. She has a very strong sense of loyalty, and patience. Some might say it’s stupidity, staying with Nathan for 14 long years. But that’s dedication.
What are you most excited about accomplishing in your role for this show?
I am excited to be a part of the show. I am looking forward to bring my own twist to my characters, and see how it works out.
If you could be a part of Nathan’s gang, a Hot Box Girl, a Save A Soul Mission member, or Havana Night Club attendee, what would you choose?
Choosing which group to be a part of, I would choose Nathan’s gang. Living on the edge, the thrill of the Craps game. It would be exciting to be a part of that.
Tell the people something to get them excited for this show!
