Connecticut Theatre Company’s “Spotlight On…” series continues with a look into our talented cast and crew of Guys and Dolls. Get to know Ellie Maillet!
Please introduce yourself and state your role in the show.
I’m Ellie Maillet and I’m the choreographer!
Who is your favorite guy from the Guys and Dolls movie, Nathan Detroit or Sky Masterson? Why?
I like Sky! He has this suaveness to him but deep down he’s a really sweet, caring guy.
Who is your favorite girl from the Guys and Dolls, Sarah Brown or Miss Adelaide? Why?
Being a dancer and a performer myself I’ve always loved Adelaide. Her look, her dances, etc she really shines.
What are you most excited about accomplishing in your role for this show?
This is my first time choreographing a whole show myself which is super exciting! I’ve co choreographed some shows before including Ctc’s Meet me in St. Louis which was a joy to work on. I think taking this step is a huge accomplishment for me and my dancing career.
If you could be a part of Nathan’s gang, a Hot Box Girl, a Save A Soul Mission member, or Havana Night Club attendee, what would you choose?
As I said before, I’ve been a dancer forever so obviously I would choose to be a hot box girl. The costumes, the dances, everything seems fabulous!
Tell the people something to get them excited for this show!
This show, although it’s a classic I feel is truly brought to another level at CTC. This cast brings it to new levels whether it’s singing, dancing, or acting, they bring something you’ve never seen before and you definitely don’t want to miss out on it!
With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, Guys and Dolls opens March 20th and runs through April 5th at Connecticut Theatre Company. Tickets on sale now!
