Connecticut Theatre Company’s “Spotlight On…” series continues with a look into our talented cast and crew of Guys and Dolls. Get to know Duane Campbell!
Please introduce yourself and state your role in the show.
I’m Duane Campbell and I’ll be playing Big Jule in the show!
Who is your favorite guy from the Guys and Dolls movie, Nathan Detroit or Sky Masterson? Why?
I’m partial to Sky. He’s a smoother talker but ultimately there’s character behind the charm that makes him admirable.
Who is your favorite girl from the Guys and Dolls, Sarah Brown or Miss Adelaide? Why?
Definitely Sarah. She’s strong-willed and has the courage of her convictions.
What are you most excited about accomplishing in your role for this show?
I’m excited to play a character that’s known for being intimidating. It’s so far from my natural tendencies. I also look forward to returning to the show since the last time I performed in Guys and Dolls I had an unfortunate accident and had to finish the show in a boot!
If you could be a part of Nathan’s gang, a Hot Box Girl, a Save A Soul Mission member, or Havana Night Club attendee, what would you choose?
I’d be living it up in Havana! Bring on the Dulce de Leche and Caribbean weather!
Tell the people something to get them excited for this show!
People! Get excited for this show! There’s guys AND dolls! There’s action and romance! There’s a live band! There’s popcorn! There’s a table to drink wine at! What more do you need?
With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, Guys and Dolls opens March 20th and runs through April 5th at Connecticut Theatre Company. Tickets on sale now!
