Connecticut Theatre Company’s “Spotlight On…” series continues with a look into our talented cast and crew of Guys and Dolls. Get to know Jeanie Tuzzio!

Introduce Yourself to Our Audience:

Oh hey, It’s Jeanie!

What character do you play?

Hot Box Girl (Mimi)/Havana Dancer

What makes you most excited about returning to the stage after the pandemic?

The creative outlet and the connection to other people who share dedication to the theater!

Who is your favorite character in Guys and Dolls?

I would say probably General Cartwright. This musical is a commentary about gender roles and what it means to be a good person and to be honest, Cartwright was the only one to point out that even though they’re sinners, they still showed up and were being respectful. Okay,  but fun answer? Obviously Adelaide. Super cute.

What are you most excited for our audience to experience while watching our first production in over a year?

The joy. Man, the best shows are not the ones where everything’s perfect, but it’s the one where everyone looks like they’re having fun and are putting their hearts on the stage. You’re going to have a hard time not smiling.

Who inspired your love of the theater? And why?

My mother introduced me to theater as a child by singing me “Good Morning Starshine” every morning and night and took me to see “Rent” for my sixteenth birthday. Before she passed, she came to every single one of my shows and always cheered me on. I dedicate EVERY show to her.

With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, Guys and Dolls opens June 11th and runs through June 27th at Connecticut Theatre Company. Tickets on sale now!
